Marianne Turner was a graduate of A. N. Myer Secondary School, Niagara Falls, Ontario. She obtained her ARCT in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, a degree in Human Relations from Niagara College, an Honours degree in Business Administration and Music from Brock University and an Artist Diploma from the University of Western Ontario. She was actively involved with Christ Memorial Anglican Church, Oshawa, as organist and choir master, the Durham Youth Orchestra, the Durham Philharmonic Choir as accompanist, and the Piano Teachers’ Association of Oshawa. She will be sorrowfully missed by her music students and the musicians she accompanied on piano over many years.
The Marianne Turner Memorial Scholarship was established by Durham Philharmonic Choir in memory of Marianne Turner, our accompanist from 1997 to 2011. It is available to a student from Durham Region enrolled in a post-secondary music programme.
